So, its been forever and 17 days since I made a blog post, even though the blog post before the blog post from forever and 17 days ago claimed my return to the blogosphere. I suck. At this. In my defense, I have been busy. Working hard at my 9-5 and thinking up new and exciting things to draw after coming out of an almost year long creative brain fart. Just finished the entire album layout and a t-shirt design for a local rockabilly band and another illustration used for a different band's website. Yay me!

Now, I'm hoping to take a break from side work and getting my own projects into fruition. I'm working on my much anticipated clothing line tentatively titled, Miss Doomsday. I'm doing a series of classic horror icons transformed into my weirdo style of pin-up girls for a collection of mod-inspired dresses with my signature crazy flair. And some t-shirts, if the demand is there. Get excited, bitches!!!!!

Please.

Somebody has to buy these besides my boyfriend and my mom.

The first in the series...80s werewolf prom queen goodness. Still in the works a little, but I'm moving on to my 50s zombie diner waitress! I'll keep you guys better up to date on things and I'll have process posts once I get to the printing/sewing phases :)

I AM Fest

Thanks to everyone that visited me at the I AM Fest this past Saturday! It was very nice meeting all of you and I appreciate all your feedback on my work. Hope you enjoyed the cupcakes :)

I'm going to be working hard to get my actual website up, get prints made, get in some more shows, work on new pieces, and get serious with the planning of my future clothing/accessories venture. I'm Back!

After a loooooong hiatus from my personal work...I'm back! And better than ever....if you can imagine such a thing. I'm in the process of working on a lot of new things and its all very exciting. I have a booth space at an independent art and music festival this weekend, so I'm making new work for that. Its called the IAM Festival and its here in Chicago at the Congress Theater this Saturday, June 13. Come check it out if you're in the area!

I wanted to do in-progress images this go 'round, but I've been too busy getting back used to actually doing work and haven't bothered dusting off the ol' camera. I promise to have pictures of the show after the weekend.

I'm also hoping to get involved in some comic book, chapbook, etc nonsense with my friend and very talented writer, Alexis Thomas check out here site, Paper Planes Press.

I'm hoping for more shows.

I'm looking to start my clothing and accessories line soon.

I have so many ideas!

Its so nice to be back in my own mind again...I've missed it.

Yeah...I'm not much of a Cubs fan...or a baseball fan for that matter BUT I did design this nifty shirt for work. Hopefully we'll start production on it ASAP in time for whatever the shit is going on in baseball right now that's having people's panties in a twist. Let me know if you want one, I can preorder them!

Tattoo+Piercing

Special Shirt

I decided to make a skull to go with the tattoo guns. I made it mostly out of piercing supplies/jewelry.

Mark wants to use the illustration for a special shirt only people who get pierced/tattooed at the Alley have the "privilege" to buy...

"My father taught me to never give anything away for free!" That was his response to the suggestion of giving the shirts as a gift to the shop customers. I think he could stand to give something away...especially since people spend so much on tattoos and shit.

I created this little family for some reason at work. They don't have names yet, so feel free to suggest some if you feel so inclined. We have no idea what we're going to do with these characters, but they were fun to draw nonetheless. I want to clean the sketches up, ink them and do some shading with colored pencil in gray tones (like an old school tattoo look) and little red/pink for accents and get Mark to hang it up somewhere...maybe the new tattoo shop that's soon to be opening but who knows when...we'll see. Enjoy!

I did a couple "Alley logo" t-shirts for one of the stores owned by the guy I intern for. The store is known for taking its logo and putting it in different contexts or using the logo in some way to make a statement on its shirts so....here's a few I did Thursday that Mark liked...just need to do some minor fixing up...

Alley Characters

So...I started my internship last week at The Alley. I started drawing some characters today. I pretty much just got paid to sit at my desk, listen to music and draw whatever I wanted...life is quite wonderful sometimes. I'm going to do a whole family (mom, dad, 2 kids, dog, cat...all kinds of fun stuff..maybe a car and a house too, we'll see), but here's the kids I did today; a little goth girl and a skinhead boy. Let me know what you think and give me some suggestions for the rest of the fam/accessories.

I did more work on the poster today...it seems like I want to work on this right now more than anything else. I think I just like working on things until they get done...at least things that are going well haha. I have a logo I need to be working on as well. A logo that someone is actually going to pay me for...yeah, I'll get on that tomorrow and perhaps put that up when I get some progress. ANYWAY....this poster. The type I'm not sure about. I tried doing my own type and I didn't like anything I came up with tonight so I figured I'd try using their logotype BUT i don't know if I like that in this design either....so....shitballs. Also, I love the image and composition and everything (I still have some more to do on the image though) but I need to figure out where I want the remainder of the information about the show. Above the band name? On the left side of the composition? On the right side by the face? There's some options. Let me know what you guys think...
